What do you really know about your insurance and filing a claim?

Thursday, 16 January 2014 by admin

Owning your own home or business comes with its challenges. When temperatures are warm, mother nature comes through and gives us hurricanes, and tornado’s. When temperatures are low, we begin to see hail storms and freezing temperatures. Throughout these changes, your home or business must be  able to sustain these possibly destructive storms. If you currently still have a mortgage on your property, then you are required to retain property insurance, whether it is commercial or residential property. Even if you don’t have a mortgage on that property-insurance-policyproperty, you should still maintain your insurance. As we have all seen the recent weather, there is no way you could know what to expect. It’s important to be prepared for whatever comes our way.

Within the last few months we have seen some extreme conditions. We have received tons of calls from policy holders that have suffered from hurricanes, tornado’s, flooding, water damage, pipe break/ pipe bursts, A/C and Dishwasher leaks, and roof damage. People tend to call after they have already filed a claim, and try getting money on their own. They don’t get what they wanted and then they call us, the public adjusters. Public Adjusters are licensed and bonded in being an advocates for a policyholder in appraising and negotiating an insurance claim.

If you suffer from property damage and have a residential or commercial claim, you should have someone that’s defending your claim from the beginning. Would you go into court and not have an attorney defending you? Probably not a good idea. Similar to attorneys, public adjusters only charge a percentage of your claim if and when we collect it for you. If we aren’t able to get you a settlement, then you don’t owe us anything!

Every year we pay thousands of dollars to our property insurance companies. If you suffer from hurricane damage, tornado damage, flood damage, water damage, pipe break/ pipe bursts, A/C and Dishwasher leaks, and roof damage, then your insurance will most likely cover it.

All American Public Adjusters, Inc. has over 20 years of experience in property damage and insurance claims. Whether you are in Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, we can help you with your property insurance claim.

Chicago Tornado – FEMA comes to Assess Damage

Friday, 22 November 2013 by admin

tornado
CBS News reported that FEMA was on the ground assessing the damages in Washington, Illinois after the deadly the deadly tornadoes hit Illinois on Sunday. They stated that 1,082 homes were severely damaged or destroyed in Washington alone. There were also nearly 1,500 homes damages and destroyed across the state. The town of 15,000 experienced 22 tornadoes including the EF-4. The tornadoes swept through and destroyed just about everything in its path. FEMA says this is among the worst ever seen. The inspectors must use electronic maps just to figure out state lines. Damage that even by their standards, was overwhelming. It will take days or even weeks just to inspect all of the damage. They first have to figure out which of the homes need to be completely taken down before they can proceed. This is just the beginning to a what will be a very long recovery.

Renters Insurance

Wednesday, 20 November 2013 by admin

35% percent of American households are comprised of renters, and 46 percent of those people have no renter’s insurance.

Do you know what it costs for you to be protected?
Here’s 1 example:
Allstate – Renters Insurance for a 4 bedroom town home near an ocean.
What’s covered: $15,000 in personal property protection
$100,000/per occurrence of Family Liability Protection
Up to 12 months of Additional living expenses
with a $500 deductible
And the cost? – $22.92 a month!

Renters appear to rely on their landlord’s homeowner’s insurance to protect them from damage or theft. Unfortunately, nothing that you own will be covered under their policy.

If you are ever to have a fire while making eggs or maybe your toilet overflows and floods your home, it’s worth it to be protected. Mother nature is very spontaneous as well. Keep your personal property protected.

Tornados Strike Illinois

Monday, 18 November 2013 by admin

Illinois Tornado DamageOn Sunday, November 17th, Washington, Illinois faced a devastating tornado that killed 6 people across the state and flattening much of the city of 15,000 people.

Bits of American flags and insulation from destroyed homes clung to trees that had been stripped of most of their branches and remaining leaves by the Washington twister. Spawned by a fast-moving storm system, the tornado had winds of up to 200 miles per hour.

The storm destroyed 250 to 500 houses in that city. Authorities were keeping evacuated residents away out of concern that the remaining structures were dangerously unstable.

The storm produced about 80 tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service. The tornadoes leveled scores of homes and demolished entire neighborhoods. The National Weather Service confirmed preliminary EF-4 tornado damage in Washington County in southern Illinois, with winds of
The storm knocked down power lines across the Midwest, and power companies reported that some 800,000 homes and businesses were without electricity on Monday morning. Michigan had the largest number of outages, with Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, West Virginia and Pennsylvania also feeling the storm’s aftermath.

In neighboring Kentucky, the storm system damaged several homes in the western part of the state, ripping shingles and gutters from roofs, scattering tree limbs and downing power lines.

Monday, 21 October 2013 by admin

Home Damaged due to StormWEST HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. — If it wasn’t bad enough that folks from Rockland County just finished rebuilding their homes after Hurricane Sandy, they get hit by a fast-moving storm system that took down trees and damaged homes. The National Weather Service confirmed that a microburst hit parts of Rockland County on Thursday afternoon. A microburst is a thunderstorm that releases a large amount of energy all at once and comes down to the surface as straight-line damaging winds. Thursday’s storm cell produced winds of up to 60 mph as it traveled in a northeasterly direction.

A large tree was completely uprooted and landed on top of an empty gazebo in River Front Park in Stony Point. Other parts of the town like West Haverstraw, Harvestraw, and Stoney Point were not nearly as lucky.

People were devastated. Standing on the streets, crying at what has happened to their homes in what was a matter of 10 minutes. Trees with roots at least 10 feet tall were uprooted as the storm plowed through the county.

On Benson Street in West Haverstraw, a large tree fell onto a house. The tree fell into the neighbor’s kitchen, actually in the kitchen. The whole roof is opened up
Neighbors states that there were gusts of wind coming at you, hailing thunder very loudly.

The storm ripped through the area. The system weakened as it tracked toward Westchester County and the Connecticut border.

A flash flood watch was in effect for Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Passaic and Bergen counties in New Jersey, Rockland and Westchester counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut until Friday evening.

Rebuilding your home after a storm like this can be very difficult and time consuming. It’s hard enough to believe that it’s happened to you. It’s important that homeowner’s review their insurance policies at a time like this. Make sure they have someone on their side defending them against the insurance companies.

Atlanta,Ga Insurance company says hail damage ‘worst in years’

Friday, 18 October 2013 by admin

Atlanta News, Weather, Traffic, and Sports | FOX 5

NEWNAN, Ga. – Monday’s severe weather brought hail the size of baseballs to some parts of metro Atlanta. State Farm is calling it some of the worst hail damage it has seen in years. One estimate is that the hail damaged more than 100,000 homes in metro Atlanta . Experts warn homeowners to be careful who they do business with to repair the damage. “There are an awful lot of companies this week that are coming into town. They are setting up local offices. They are appearing as though they have been here for years.  They are knocking on doors and leaving literature. In fact they have been in Atlanta 5 or 6 days,” said Mike Monk of Ideal Roofing. Monk says responsible roofing companies have formed the United Association of Storm Restoration Contractors to help clean up the industry. The hail during Monday’s storm also caused damage to numerous cars.
“I’ve been doing this for over 20 years working at these mobile sites and this is some most severe hail in several years,” Ron Hogan of State Farm said.John Murphy’s pickup took some hard hail hits on the hood and mostly the roof.”It was kind of like watching a disaster unfold.  There was nothing you can do about it except stand there and watch it,” Murphy said. It’s estimated that Monday’s storm caused hail damage to thousands of cars in metro Atlanta. If you haven’t contacted your insurance company yet, you should do that quickly.State Farm advises that if the hail busted a windshield, do not drive that vehicle until the glass is replaced. They also urge people to have patience.”So that’s the thing that I tell folks to please be patient because the shops are going to have their hands full for months to come,” Hogan said.Dozens of cars at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport were also damaged by hail. State Farm reminds those drivers to contact their insurance companies and make sure they know where the car was parked when damaged because their neighborhood might not have been affected.
