Atlanta Georgia Frozen Pipes Burst

Monday, 20 January 2014 by admin

pipe brokernAfter Atlanta Georgia had its record low temperatures this week, it has caused pipes to burst throughout metro Atlanta on Tuesday and cause water damage thru out the home. Homeowners complained that pipes in the ceiling froze and burst. Others suffered a complete total loss to their homes. Opening an insurance claim with your carrier can be very tedious. Policy holders generally do not know what they are covered for and how much they can receive for their property damage claim. If you have experienced flooding, flood damage, water damage, pipe burst, or pipe breaks in Atlanta, Georgia, hiring an experienced public adjuster to assist with your property damage claim will be the smartest decision you will ever make. Contact All American Public Adjusters, Inc today to assist you with evaluating your damage, estimating your loss, filing your insurance claim, and negotiating for a maximum settlement. Don’t be underpaid by your carrier. Contact us today.

Be sure to take preventative action during the cold weather.

Keep garage doors closed if there are water supply lines in the garage .

Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.

When the weather is very cold outside, let the cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe – even at a trickle – helps prevent pipes from freezing.

Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night. By temporarily suspending the use of lower nighttime temperatures, you may incur a higher heating bill, but you can prevent a much more costly repair job if pipes freeze and burst.

If you will be going away during cold weather, leave the heat on in your home, set to a temperature no lower than 55° F.

To Thaw Frozen Pipes

If you turn on a faucet and only a trickle comes out, suspect a frozen pipe. Likely places for frozen pipes include against exterior walls or where your water service enters your home through the foundation.

Keep the faucet open. As you treat the frozen pipe and the frozen area begins to melt, water will begin to flow through the frozen area. Running water through the pipe will help melt ice in the pipe.

Apply heat to the section of pipe using an electric heating pad wrapped around the pipe, an electric hair dryer, a portable space heater (kept away from flammable materials), or by wrapping pipes with towels soaked in hot water. Do not use a blowtorch, kerosene or propane heater, charcoal stove, or other open flame device.

Apply heat until full water pressure is restored. If you are unable to locate the frozen area, if the frozen area is not accessible, or if you can not thaw the pipe, call a licensed plumber.

Check all other faucets in your home to find out if you have additional frozen pipes. If one pipe freezes, others may freeze, too.

Palm Beach County Flooding

Monday, 20 January 2014 by admin

“Historically heavy rain” swamped southern Palm Beach County Friday, closing schools, flooding roads and causing traffic throughout the region. Doppler radar estimate between 13 and 18 inches of rain fell in the western sections of Delray Beach between Linton Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard, the National Weather Service said. The heaviest rain fell in a corridor from Delray to Hypoluxo.Palm Beach County Flooding An incredible 22.21 inches of rain was recorded at a Weather Underground weather station near Hypoluxo. Boynton Beach saw an impressive 17.72 inches of rain. In addition, according to The Associated Press, Martin County Fire Rescue officials say a possible tornado in Hobe Sound damaged 30 homes. Coastal Martin County – from Jupiter Island to Jensen Beach – around the shoreline in Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Port Salerno accumulated nearly 10 inches of rain on the day and Stuart 8 inches, the weather service said. Heavy rains dumped about 9 inches near Fort Pierce and caused at least one sink hole to open up along a road.
Flooding has caused many homes to experience roof leaks, and water damage from the water that entered into their homes. Once the rain comes to a halt, residents will need to remove all of this water from their homes and properly dry it out and decontaminate your home. We urge you to contact professionals. All American Public Adjusters can assist you with filing your flood claim with your flood insurance company so that you are properly paid.
