CBS News reported that FEMA was on the ground assessing the damages in Washington, Illinois after the deadly the deadly tornadoes hit Illinois on Sunday. They stated that 1,082 homes were severely damaged or destroyed in Washington alone. There were also nearly 1,500 homes damages and destroyed across the state. The town of 15,000 experienced 22 tornadoes including the EF-4. The tornadoes swept through and destroyed just about everything in its path. FEMA says this is among the worst ever seen. The inspectors must use electronic maps just to figure out state lines. Damage that even by their standards, was overwhelming. It will take days or even weeks just to inspect all of the damage. They first have to figure out which of the homes need to be completely taken down before they can proceed. This is just the beginning to a what will be a very long recovery.
